• Seolhyun and Um Tae Goo Talk About Their New 'Best Friend' Status After Years of Not Speaking to Each Other

Actors Seolhyun and Um Tae Goo have revealed that they are now best friends, despite having a shy start to their relationship.

On November 26th, Seolhyun and Um Tae Goo joined director Kim Hee Won on the YouTube channel Teo, where they discussed their friendship while promoting their Disney+ series Light Shop.

Seolhyun shared that Um Tae Goo, who is known for being shy, used to be very quiet on set. She recalled, "When our senior would answer, he was so embarrassed that the mischievous seniors would purposely ask him more questions. We had debates with Um Tae Goo in the middle, but he didn’t say a word while we talked amongst ourselves."

The hosts also asked Seolhyun how she felt about Um Tae Goo opening up more these days. She joked, "I think it’s because I’ve been active a lot, so I feel like I’m talking more now."

Jang Do Yeon then asked when the shyness fades between people who aren’t close, and Um Tae Goo responded, "It depends on the person. I worked on The Great Battle with Seolhyun, and we didn’t say more than five words to each other."

Seolhyun added, "For over a year, we didn’t talk more than five words. It was just 'thank you for your hard work,' that was it."

But now, things have changed. Um Tae Goo proudly shared, "But this time, we talked a lot more." Seolhyun quickly responded, "Best friends, best friends," making everyone laugh. Um Tae Goo hesitated but eventually agreed, saying, "Soulmates, it’s really great."

The two revealed that their conversations now include topics like travel, pets, and exercise. Seolhyun then asked, "Do you talk like this in front of really comfortable people?"

Um Tae Goo replied, "I talk well with director Um Tae Hwa," but quickly added, "That’s not true," and explained, "When I’m with close friends or younger siblings who I’m comfortable with, I joke around a lot."

Despite their initial shyness, Seolhyun and Um Tae Goo have clearly become close friends and are enjoying their bond as soulmates.

  • Former Crayon Pop's ChoA Opens Up About Her Struggle with Cervical Cancer: 'I Dream of the Day I Can Have a Drink with My Husband Again'"

ChoA, former member of the girl group Crayon Pop, has bravely shared her ongoing battle with cervical cancer and her emotional journey.

On January 28, ChoA posted a heartfelt update on her social media, explaining her struggles. "I usually laugh, talk, and live my life as usual, but there are moments when I suddenly face a reality that isn’t like before, and it gets tough," she shared.

She went on to say, "Recently, something difficult happened, and in the past, I would have had a drink with my husband to shake it off. I really miss being able to do that."

ChoA admitted that she still can’t fully believe her diagnosis. "When I face the reality I’ve been avoiding, my heart that I’ve built up breaks down," she said. "But the life I’m living now, which I’m still enjoying, is something that someone else might be wishing for. I try to gather my thoughts again with gratitude."

She also expressed hope for the future, saying, "Lately, I dream of a day five years from now when I’ll be declared cancer-free and be able to have a drink with my husband after putting the kids to bed, after all the struggles. It’s been almost two years, so I believe the day I get that clean bill of health will come soon."

ChoA married a businessman in 2021, six years older than her. In October 2023, she revealed her cervical cancer diagnosis, sharing that she had been diagnosed during a routine check-up in her first year of marriage.

Despite everything, ChoA remains hopeful, noting that the cancer was smaller than expected during surgery, and she was able to preserve her fertility—a step closer to her dream of becoming a mother.
