BTS's Jimin and Jungkook are back at the 2024 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), highlighting their continued global success.
The duo earned nominations in multiple categories, further proving their popularity. The finalist list, released on November 25 (local time), revealed that Jimin and Jungkook are nominated for 'Top Global K-Pop Artist' and 'Top Global K-Pop Song' for the second year in a row.
Jimin's solo track "Who" from his album MUSE has been nominated for 'Top Global K-Pop Song.' Upon release, "Who" made a strong debut, landing at No. 14 on Billboard's Hot 100, making it his sixth solo song to chart. It stayed on the Hot 100 for 17 weeks, proving its lasting popularity.
Jungkook is also shining with his solo singles. He’s nominated for his songs "3D (feat. Jack Harlow)" and "Standing Next to You" from his album GOLDEN. "Standing Next to You" is also in the running for 'Top Selling Song.' Both songs debuted in the top 5 of the Hot 100, an impressive feat.
In addition, Jungkook’s album GOLDEN has been nominated for 'Top K-Pop Album.' The album made history by charting on the Billboard 200 for 24 weeks in a row, setting a new record for the longest-charting album by a Korean solo artist. Jungkook is also a finalist for 'Top Song Sales Artist,' making him the first-ever K-pop solo artist to be nominated in this category. With six nominations, he has the most nominations among K-pop artists at this year’s BBMAs.
BTS has already made history at the BBMAs, winning 12 trophies, including 'Top Social Artist' (2017-2021), 'Top Duo/Group' (2019, 2021-2022), and 'Top Selling Song' (2021-2022). Last year, Jungkook won 'Top Global K-Pop Song' for his solo hit "Seven (feat. Latto)."
The BBMAs, along with the Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, and MTV VMA, are one of the four major American music awards. The 2024 ceremony will take place on December 12 and will be broadcast on FOX and Amazon Fire TV in the U.S., with streaming available later on Paramount+.
