• Kim Soo Hyun Transforms into a "Counterfeit King" in New Disney+ Drama

Kim Soo Hyun is ready to surprise fans with a bold new role in his upcoming Disney+ series, Knock-Off.

On November 21, the 2024 Disney Content Showcase was held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center in Singapore. The event brought together over 400 media representatives from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including 100 reporters from Korea. Among the star-studded lineup were Kim Soo Hyun, Jo Bo Ah, and director Park Hyun Seok, representing Knock-Off, along with other big names like Kim Hye Soo (Trigger) and Park Eun Bin (Hyper Knife).

Speaking about his role, Kim Soo Hyun said, "This drama features unique characters, each with their own way of surviving. My character, Kim Sung Joon, starts as an office worker but evolves into a merchant and eventually becomes a global counterfeit king. Watching him face challenges and grow will be exciting. The scene where he sells his first item at the market is one of my favorites."

He added, "Sung Joon is clumsy at first but does his best to persuade buyers. Yoo Jae Myung, who plays my father, adds another layer to the story with our dynamic. I think viewers will enjoy our chemistry."

Co-star Jo Bo Ah shared her perspective on the series:
"I play Sung Joon’s first love, who later becomes a public servant dedicated to cracking down on counterfeit goods. The drama paints a vivid picture of Korea in the 1990s and 2000s, and I think it will resonate deeply. Please look forward to it."

Director Park Hyun Seok highlighted the effort put into recreating the historical setting:
"We worked hard to bring the 1997 IMF crisis to life on screen. This story reflects the struggles and emotions of ordinary people during that time while encouraging viewers to think about the present. We’re excited—and a bit nervous—to share it with a global audience. We hope it leaves a lasting impression."

Knock-Off promises a unique mix of nostalgia and drama, exploring a lesser-seen side of Korean history. Fans can’t wait to see Kim Soo Hyun’s transformation when the series premieres on Disney+.

  • Former Crayon Pop's ChoA Opens Up About Her Struggle with Cervical Cancer: 'I Dream of the Day I Can Have a Drink with My Husband Again'"

ChoA, former member of the girl group Crayon Pop, has bravely shared her ongoing battle with cervical cancer and her emotional journey.

On January 28, ChoA posted a heartfelt update on her social media, explaining her struggles. "I usually laugh, talk, and live my life as usual, but there are moments when I suddenly face a reality that isn’t like before, and it gets tough," she shared.

She went on to say, "Recently, something difficult happened, and in the past, I would have had a drink with my husband to shake it off. I really miss being able to do that."

ChoA admitted that she still can’t fully believe her diagnosis. "When I face the reality I’ve been avoiding, my heart that I’ve built up breaks down," she said. "But the life I’m living now, which I’m still enjoying, is something that someone else might be wishing for. I try to gather my thoughts again with gratitude."

She also expressed hope for the future, saying, "Lately, I dream of a day five years from now when I’ll be declared cancer-free and be able to have a drink with my husband after putting the kids to bed, after all the struggles. It’s been almost two years, so I believe the day I get that clean bill of health will come soon."

ChoA married a businessman in 2021, six years older than her. In October 2023, she revealed her cervical cancer diagnosis, sharing that she had been diagnosed during a routine check-up in her first year of marriage.

Despite everything, ChoA remains hopeful, noting that the cancer was smaller than expected during surgery, and she was able to preserve her fertility—a step closer to her dream of becoming a mother.
