Actress Shin Ye Eun expressed deep admiration for her Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born co-star Kim Tae Ri during a recent interview in Seoul. The tvN drama, which aired its finale on the 17th, takes viewers back to post-Korean War 1950s, portraying the fierce competition, camaraderie, and growth of aspiring gukgeuk (Korean traditional opera) actors.
In the series, Shin Ye Eun played Heo Young Seo, an elite member of the Maeran Gukgeuk Troupe. Known for her exceptional talent in singing, dancing, and acting, Young Seo is also burdened by insecurities and the need to constantly prove herself.
During the interview, Shin Ye Eun spoke about working alongside Kim Tae Ri, who starred as Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a naturally gifted vocalist striving to become a gukgeuk star. “She puts in so much effort—there’s no end to her hard work,”
Shin Ye Eun shared. “Even while eating, she’s rehearsing. Watching her, I understood why she’s such an incredible actress. Her courage and determination, which remind me of Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born , are something I truly admire.”
Shin Ye Eun also revealed the close bond she shared with her fellow cast members. “Kim Tae Ri unnie is like a role model to me,” she said. “We had many deep conversations, and I often sought her advice, especially during tough times. On the other hand, I had a playful dynamic with Woo Da Bi—we joked around so much that people called us ‘the fool and the princess.’”
When asked if there was another role she’d love to try, Shin Ye Eun mentioned Moon Ok Kyung, played by Jung Eun Chae. “She looked so cool! I don’t think I could pull off that short haircut with the same charm. Ok Kyung really captured Jung Eun Chae unnie’s unique vibe,” she said.
Shin Ye Eun’s candid reflections on Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born not only highlighted her respect for her co-stars but also gave fans a glimpse into the camaraderie behind the scenes. Fans are excited to see what Shin Ye Eun will bring to the table in her next project!
