BTS’s Jimin has made history with his song 'Who', breaking the record for the fastest male solo song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.
Released on July 19, 'Who' hit the 1 billion stream mark on November 13, just 118 days after its release. This achievement makes it the fastest for any male solo artist's song to reach this milestone, not only in K-pop but worldwide.
The song now shares the record with British pop star Harry Styles’ 'As It Was', which reached 1 billion streams in 119 days. However, Jimin’s 'Who' managed to achieve the feat one day faster, setting a new benchmark in the music industry.
Jimin has now become the first K-pop artist to have two solo songs with over 1 billion streams on Spotify. His 2023 solo debut album track 'Like Crazy' was the first-ever Korean solo song to hit 1 billion streams, and now 'Who' has set the fastest record for a male solo artist’s song, further proving Jimin’s global impact.
Despite being released while Jimin is on military service and without any promotions, 'Who' has topped charts and garnered massive attention worldwide. It even held the No. 1 spot for 20 days on Spotify's Global Daily Top Songs chart and stayed in the Top 10 for 118 consecutive days. Notably, 'Who' is the only K-pop song from 2024 to reach 1 billion streams, showing strong support from fans all over the globe.
As of November 13, 'Who' continues to dominate on Spotify’s Korean Daily Top Songs chart, holding the No. 1 position for 118 days. Jimin also continues to reign at No. 1 on the Korean Daily Top Artist chart for a record-breaking 476 days, surpassing his own previous record.
On top of this, 'Who' also saw success on the latest Billboard charts (as of November 16), moving up 11 spots to No. 44 on the Hot 100. This marks its 16th consecutive week on the chart. It also ranked No. 13 on the Global 200 and No. 12 on the Global (Excluding the US) chart, showing its enduring popularity.
