BTS's V keeps making waves with his song "Christmas Tree," which has now surpassed 420 million streams on Spotify! This track, known for V’s warm, soothing vocals, has become the most-streamed Korean OST on Spotify, reaching this milestone on November 5.
"Christmas Tree" made history as the first Korean OST to enter Billboard's Hot 100, even during the busy holiday season, when Christmas classics usually take over the charts. Despite not having a physical release, it climbed to impressive ranks and topped Billboard’s U.S. Digital Song Sales chart as the first Korean solo song to do so. V also became the first Korean artist to lead the Billboard Holiday Digital Song Sales chart.
Released on December 24, 2021, "Christmas Tree" is the soundtrack for the hit drama Our Beloved Summer. V’s heartfelt vocals brought extra emotion to the show, and fans were excited for the song even before it was officially released. Music director Nam Hye-seung revealed she had V in mind from the beginning, spending a lot of time crafting the perfect composition and lyrics.
The OST’s popularity helped boost the drama as well. While Our Beloved Summer ended with a 5.3% viewership rating on SBS, the global success of "Christmas Tree" helped the drama reach No. 9 on Netflix worldwide, showing how K-pop and K-drama create an amazing synergy together.
V’s "Christmas Tree" has also been recognized as a modern holiday favorite. Elite Daily included it in their list of "24 New Christmas Classics," and Edinburgh Live named it the most popular Christmas song on Spotify, even topping some playlists ahead of Mariah Carey’s holiday anthem, "All I Want for Christmas Is You."
With "Christmas Tree," V keeps proving his global appeal and talent!
