• BIGBANG's G-Dragon Reveals, "I Was an SM Trainee for 5 Years, But I Couldn’t See Myself There"

BIGBANG member G-Dragon recently shared a surprising story about his early days as a trainee at SM Entertainment.

On the October 30th episode of tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, G-Dragon made a guest appearance and opened up about his time before joining YG Entertainment. He revealed, "Nobody really knows this, but I actually started as a trainee at SM."

When host Jo Seho asked if G-Dragon joined SM after being part of the group Little Roo’ra, G-Dragon explained that he got involved with Little Roo’ra through the MBC kids' show Bbo Bbo Bbo.

"Back then, the child star world was pretty competitive," he shared. "Standing beside the host, Bbo-mi Nuna, was like a big deal." This experience eventually led him to join SM Entertainment.

G-Dragon said he was scouted by Lee Soo Man after entering a dance contest during a family ski trip. "My mom always encouraged me to perform, so I went for it," he recalled.

Though he trained at SM for five years, G-Dragon felt the company wasn’t the right fit. "Watching the SM seniors, I realized it wasn’t my style," he said. "I wasn’t getting called in much, and I couldn’t see myself finding my own path there."

Eventually, he decided to explore rap, joining a compilation album at age 13. "That album was called Thirteen, and it led to YG discovering me," G-Dragon shared, marking the start of his journey with YG Entertainment and eventually, BIGBANG.
