Rosé from BLACKPINK is shining a light on Korean drinking culture with her new song "APT." Recently, fashion magazine Vogue shared a fun video titled "Rosé Cooks Kimchi Fried Rice Dinner" on their YouTube channel.
In the video, Rosé makes kimchi fried rice and a special drink called so-mak, which mixes soju and beer. She explained, "This is a drinking game with friends. What I'm making now is so-mak. It's a combination of soju and beer. The 'so' comes from soju and the 'mak' is from makgeolli. It's a perfect combination. It can get you a little tipsy, but I love it."
She even showed how to mix the soju and beer just right and said, "Mmm, it’s good," while enjoying her creation.
Rosé also introduced the "Apartment" game, a popular Korean drinking game. She described it, saying, "It's an abbreviation of the word apartment, and you say 'Apartment, Apartment.' Everyone gathers their hands and shouts, 'This is a game that 00 likes.' Then, when you shout the apartment level 9, the person on level 9 gets caught." She even gave a demonstration of how to play!
Korean netizens were impressed, with comments like, "Rosé is powerful making so-mak with a red cap," "What’s with Rosé's so-mak and kimchi fried rice? She’s promoting Korea!" and "I didn’t notice it when she was just a BLACKPINK member, but now I see her as a solo artist."
Meanwhile, Rosé's new song "APT," a collaboration with pop star Bruno Mars, reached over 100 million views on its music video as of the 24th.
