BLACKPINK member Jennie has hit a bump with her song Mantra, which won’t be airing on KBS due to a broadcast ineligibility ruling.
On October 23, KBS revealed that Mantra was found ineligible for broadcasting because its lyrics mention specific brand names. This goes against Article 46 of the broadcasting review rules, which restricts advertising effects.
When a song is ruled ineligible, the problematic parts can be changed or removed for a chance at re-evaluation. To be aired on KBS programs like TV and radio, songs must receive an eligibility ruling.
Released on November 11, Mantra is a motivational song that encourages everyone to shine and embrace their unique qualities.
In related news, NCT's Jaehyun's new song Unconditional, set to drop on October 24, was also deemed ineligible for the same reason.
Other songs, including John Park's Vista, Lee Ye Jun's What If We Meet Again, CuRvY's Block Me, and Park Se Woong's Toy Story, have also faced broadcast ineligibility rulings.
