aespa has achieved another milestone with their latest release, Whiplash. The group set a new record on Spotify's "Daily Top Songs Global" chart, reaching the highest spot for a K-pop girl group in 2024.
On October 21, aespa's fifth mini-album title track, Whiplash, debuted at No. 53 with over 2.1 million streams on its first day. This is aespa's highest entry on the chart and marks the top debut for a K-pop girl group song this year.
What's even more impressive is that the track was released at 6 PM KST, meaning only 15 hours of streams were counted, showing how quickly fans worldwide responded to the song.
The group's global popularity continues to soar, and many are excited to see what other records Whiplash will break.
The album also took the No. 1 spot on iTunes' Top Albums chart in 24 regions, including newly added Colombia and Spain.
In China, it dominated Tencent Music’s K-pop charts and secured a double platinum certification. In Japan, it topped AWA’s real-time rising chart and Mora’s foreign song daily charts, proving aespa's "global hitmaker" status.
Fans can catch aespa’s comeback performance on Mnet’s M Countdown on October 24. Expectations are high for their stage!
