• Kim Jaejoong Opens Up About Adoption Story and Thoughts on Marriage: "8 Older Sisters? There Won't Be In-law Trouble"

Singer Kim Jaejoong shared his deeply personal adoption story and his unique thoughts on marriage during the October 16th episode of MBC's Radio Star. He revealed that he only learned about being adopted after debuting with TVXQ.

During the show, Jaejoong shared a touching moment he had with Lee Soo Man, the former SM Entertainment representative. "About four years ago, I sat near him on a flight. It had been a long time since we met, so I wanted to express my changed feelings. I spent two hours writing him a letter on an in-flight postcard," Jaejoong shared. "When I handed it to him, he simply said, 'Keep working hard.' Later, through others like Heechul, I found out he had bragged about it, which made me feel like I conveyed my feelings well. Despite everything, I exist today because he debuted me, and for that, I’m really grateful."

Jaejoong then opened up about his family, revealing that he was adopted into a family with eight older sisters. "I was adopted when I was 3 years old, but I didn't know about it until after my debut. Even after I learned, it was difficult to bring up the word 'adoption' with my family," he explained.

He continued by recalling the moment he first discovered the truth. "I was in Busan filming the music video for 'Believe,' and I got a call from an unknown number. Even though I was dealing with sasaeng fans at the time, something told me to answer it. The person on the other end said, 'Jaejoong, how have you been?' and that’s when everything started to make sense. That was the moment I learned I was adopted."

Jaejoong also reflected on how his younger sister, who is just 10 months older than him, supported him during a difficult time. "She never celebrated her own birthday because of the rumors about my adoption. She even pretended to have a different birthday for my sake. After we became adults, we finally celebrated her real birthday. I’m so grateful for her sacrifice."

When talking about marriage, Jaejoong added a lighthearted comment. "All of my eight sisters are married, and when we gather, there are about 32 of us. The oldest of my nieces and nephews is only four years younger than me. If I get married and have kids, I could technically become a grandfather!" He joked about the challenges his future wife might face, saying, "Whoever marries me will instantly become a grandmother, which might be uncomfortable. But don’t worry, I’ve already promised that there won’t be any in-law trouble!"

As Jaejoong reflects on his unique family dynamic, his thoughts on marriage and family show his deep gratitude and love for those around him, despite the challenges he's faced. Fans admire his honesty and sense of humor about his future, knowing that he cherishes the support of his large family.
