• Former Wanna One's Ong Seongwoo Shares His Thoughts on Completing Military Service: "A Time of Experiences I Couldn't Have in Life"

Actor Ong Seongwoo is wrapping up his mandatory military service after about a year and a half. He enlisted in April last year and served in the Army's 6th Infantry Division Band. He also hosted a mental resilience training program called "That Day, Military Stories," created by the Ministry of National Defense and the Defense PR Agency (KFN).

In a statement through his agency, Fantagio, Ong expressed his feelings about finishing his service. He said, "I have great respect for the officers and soldiers dedicated to our country and for the many seniors who have completed their service. It was a time filled with experiences and emotions that I couldn't have in life. I gained strength thanks to my fans, family, and friends who waited for me."

Ong reflected on how he is closing out his twenties with this chapter of his life and looks forward to starting his thirties with the valuable lessons he's learned. He hopes his fans will continue to support him in his future activities.

Ong Seongwoo first gained attention as a singer on "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2017. He has since shown his talent as an all-rounder, starring in popular dramas like "Moment at Eighteen" and "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon," along with the film "Life Is Beautiful." His drama "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon," which aired while he was in the military, kept him in the spotlight even during his break from acting.

Last October, during his service, he performed a medley with artists Ha Sungwoon, GOT7's Jin Young, and MONSTA X's Minhyuk at the "2023 Ground Forces Festival" in Gyeryong City. This performance gained a lot of attention on YouTube and social media.

Now that he’s back, Ong Seongwoo is ready to show a more mature and developed side of himself, and fans can’t wait to see what he does next. To celebrate his discharge and connect with his fans, he plans to hold a live broadcast on his official YouTube channel on the 17th at 6 PM.

Ong's journey through military service has been a significant experience for him, and fans are excited to support him in this new chapter of his life!

  • BTS’s Jimin Makes History with 22-Week Streak on Billboard’s Main Charts: ‘Who’ Breaks Records and Dominates

BTS’s Jimin is showing no signs of slowing down as a solo artist! His second album, MUSE, and its title track, Who, continue to dominate the U.S. Billboard charts, cementing his place as one of K-pop’s biggest global stars.

In the latest Billboard update (December 28), Jimin’s hit song Who ranked 47th on the Hot 100, marking its impressive 22nd consecutive week on the chart. This makes Who the longest-charting song by a Korean solo artist, surpassing the record previously set by Psy’s Gangnam Style. And it’s not just that—Who is the first K-pop solo song to spend its first 22 weeks in the Hot 100’s Top 60.

But the success doesn’t stop there. Jimin’s album MUSE, which includes Who, also continues to shine. It’s ranked 136th on the Billboard 200, securing its 22nd week on the chart. This makes MUSE the only K-pop album released in 2024 to have stayed on the chart for such a long period.

On top of that, Who has been making waves on several other Billboard charts. On the Streaming Songs chart, it holds the No. 32 spot, marking its 22nd week. This achievement makes it the second-longest-charting K-pop track, just behind Gangnam Style. The song also stays strong on the Global 200 and Global (Excluding U.S.) charts, sitting at No. 25 and No. 30, respectively.

The success of Who is also reflected in MUSE’s performance. The album recently reclaimed the No. 1 spot on the World Albums chart and is currently at No. 2. MUSE has now extended its record as the second-longest-charting K-pop solo album, just behind Jimin’s first solo album, FACE (which charted for 63 weeks).

These accomplishments have earned Jimin praise from U.S. media outlet AsianEAC, which dubbed him a “living legend.” They highlighted that Jimin achieved all these milestones despite having “no promotions in the U.S. during the Christmas season, no high-profile collaborations, and while serving his military duty.”

Jimin’s success is a true testament to his talent and global impact!
