Actor Park Seo Joon shared heartfelt stories about his early career and his connection with Hallyu star Kim Soo Hyun on the show Fairy Table.
On the afternoon of the 13th, a new video featuring Park Seo Joon was uploaded on Jung Jae Hyung's YouTube channel, Fairy Jae Hyung. In the video, MC Jung Jae Hyung asked him about his decision to pursue acting and why he enlisted in the military so quickly after graduating from the acting department at Seoul Arts University.
Park Seo Joon replied honestly, saying, "I had nothing… no connections. To be honest, I'm like a 'black spoon' in this industry." He opened up about the struggles of starting his career without any help.
Jung Jae Hyung understood his feelings and responded, "After graduating from college, how should you live? That time must have felt so bleak, especially for someone who needs to act with no one to rely on."
Park Seo Joon nodded and said, "Right. It was really overwhelming. I was in a situation where I had to start from scratch. I thought, 'Should I even try this?' It felt so hopeless, so I decided to 'sort out my military service first,' even before looking for an agency."
He then shared how he got connected to Kim Soo Hyun after his discharge. "Through a friend of a friend—who was close to Kim Soo Hyun—I asked if I could get introduced to that company. Kim Soo Hyun kindly facilitated the introduction," he explained.
Park Seo Joon recalled the day he visited the agency: "The CEO spoke to me about the contract. With a very confident voice, he handed me the contract, saying, 'This is a standard contract, but if you’re worried, feel free to consult a lawyer.' It was my first time visiting a company, so I said, 'I’ll look it over and get back to you.' At the time, the company was very big, and eventually, I joined that agency."
