Sobok, one of the judges, is moved and starts to remember her own past.
However, Jeong-nyeon learns she has only received a “substitute pass.” Sobok explains that it’s crucial for her to prove herself on her own, rather than relying on the influence of another. This puts Jeong-nyeon under pressure to show she deserves to be there.

Challenges arise as another trainee, Chogok, tries to make Jeong-nyeon’s life harder. When Jeong-nyeon requests an audition script, she faces pushback but stands her ground, determined to prove her worth.
In a twist, she is given the major role of “Bangja” in a charity performance, but the pressure mounts as she struggles to keep up. Young-seo’s harsh words and expectations leave her feeling small, but Jeong-nyeon vows to show her true potential.
A turning point comes when Ok-gyeong, who brought Jeong-nyeon to the opera company, offers her the regular performance audition script. She encourages Jeong-nyeon to aim higher, shaking her confidence and presenting her with a tempting choice.
As the drama unfolds, viewers are drawn into Jeong-nyeon’s journey of competition and growth in the 1950s post-war setting. Kim Tae-ri’s portrayal of Jeong-nyeon resonates with audiences, capturing her struggles and determination to become a leading national opera actress.
