• Former Crayon Pop Choa Opens Up About Her Fight with Cervical Cancer: “The Toughest Time of My Life”

Former Crayon Pop member Choa, whose real name is Heo Min Jin, bravely shared her journey with cervical cancer in a recent Instagram video. On October 14, she opened up about her diagnosis and the challenges she faced.

Choa began her story by revealing, “At the age of 33, I was diagnosed with cancer. In May of last year, during my first happy year of marriage, I went for a prenatal checkup. That day, I learned I had cervical cancer. I couldn’t believe it at first.” She went on to share how hard it was to accept the diagnosis, explaining that she visited five different hospitals hoping for a misdiagnosis.

Sadly, the diagnosis was confirmed as Stage 1 cancer, and she learned that preserving her fertility would be difficult.

“It felt like a bolt from the blue,” she recalled. “I cried so much that I could barely stand. It was the hardest time of my life.” Despite the pain, Choa found strength in her husband, saying, “We held hands and prayed together, refusing to give up.”

After undergoing treatment to shrink the tumor, Choa shared that she was relieved to find it was much smaller during surgery, and she could preserve her fertility. “It’s been over a year now, and I’ve passed my fourth follow-up examination,” she said, expressing hope for the future.

In her video, Choa reflected on her past, saying, “I used to be proud of my good health, joking that I wanted to collapse just once. I never expected to face cancer in my 30s.” She acknowledged that her lifestyle choices, like eating junk food and dealing with stress, contributed to her situation. “Now, my life has changed completely.”

Looking at the bright side, Choa shared, “Cancer took a lot from me, but it taught me important lessons and gave me a new direction. I’m living a much healthier and energetic life now.” She is preparing for another surgery to further preserve her fertility and is determined to one day become a mother. “I want to recover fully and be a source of comfort and hope for others who have gone through similar experiences,” she said.

In her full Instagram post, Choa encouraged others going through tough times: “If you’re facing a difficult moment, remember that this, too, shall pass. Don’t lose hope.” She expressed her desire to continue sharing her journey and inspire others to lead healthier lives.

Choa debuted in 2012 as the main vocalist of Crayon Pop and gained fame with their hit song "Bar Bar Bar." In December 2021, she married a businessman six years her senior.
