Kim Dong Jun recently opened up about his acting journey and his dedication to his latest role in Goryeo-Khitan War. In a video on Ji Suk-jin's YouTube channel, Ji Pyeonhan Saesang, Kim Dong Jun shared his experiences, including how he prepared for his role as King Hyeonjong.
During the video, Kim Dong Jun revealed that he met the director of Goryeo-Khitan War just a month after his military discharge. Filled with energy and passion, he volunteered to shave his head for the role, saying, “I wanted to make my mark on the world.” He also mentioned losing 7kg before filming, which impressed the director and played a part in casting him.
Kim Dong Jun also reflected on his career, acknowledging that despite winning Best Actor at the 2023 KBS Drama Awards, he feels there’s still more for him to learn. "I still need to work harder," he admitted, showing his continuous drive to improve.
Looking ahead, Kim Dong Jun expressed his interest in exploring different genres, especially wanting to play a villain in a noir film. “I have an image that makes me seem upright, but I’m not really like that,” he said, showing his eagerness to take on new challenges in acting.
One of the lighter moments came when he talked about being compared to actress Han Ga In. Although he's never met her in person, he shared how her husband, Yeon Jung-hoon, once told him, “I know what people mean when they say that.” Kim Dong Jun added with a laugh, “I feel a bit sorry about the comparison, and I haven’t reached out because it feels a little presumptuous.”
Kim Dong Jun's passion for acting and his willingness to step out of his comfort zone were clear throughout the conversation. His dedication to his craft and desire to keep growing make him a star to watch.
