DAY6 is making waves in the music scene! The band, made up of Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon, has racked up an impressive 340 million streams this year alone.
On October 10, Kakao Entertainment‘s music platform Melon shared data about the bands that are leading the band boom in 2024, including DAY6, Silica Gel, and Jannabi. DAY6 stands out as a top player by achieving what they call a “double reversal” with hit songs like “You Were Beautiful” and “So That You Can Be a Page.” Their albums released this year, “Fourever” and “Band Aid,” also did great, both surpassing 1 million streams. Because of all this success, they’ve joined Melon’s Billions Club, which recognizes artists with over 1 billion cumulative streams.
Silica Gel is also gaining attention as a rising band in the indie scene. After their performance at last year’s Melon Music Awards (MMA2023), their streaming numbers jumped by an amazing 164.5% from November to December. From January to September this year, their streams grew by 209.6% compared to the same time last year.
Another band, QWER, is getting recognized for making band music popular. Their song “Obsessed with Worries” started at number 215 on the Melon daily chart when it was released on April 1 but shot up to number 4 thanks to listeners’ support. By September 1, the song was still in the top 10 daily charts, proving its popularity.
Jannabi is also in the spotlight with their hit song “For Hesitating Lovers,” which ranked 8th on the Melon annual chart in 2019. The song has made a comeback, climbing to 58th place last year. Thanks to their loyal fans, Jannabi has now surpassed 1.17325 billion cumulative streams and has joined the Billions Club.
Even legendary British band Oasis is getting love from Melon users after announcing their reunion after 15 years. After the announcement on August 27, their streams on August 28 increased by 100.3% compared to the day before. In September, their streaming numbers rose by 67.4% compared to last year.
With these amazing achievements, DAY6 and other bands are truly leading the music scene in 2024! Fans can’t wait to see what they will do next!
