• BTS Jin's 'The Astronaut' Tops Argentina's 'Top 40 Kpop' Chart for 101 Weeks Straight

BTS's Jin keeps showing his incredible global popularity, especially in Argentina, where his song The Astronaut has been a huge hit.

Jin's first solo single, The Astronaut, just hit an amazing milestone by staying at No. 1 on Argentina’s 'Top 40 Kpop' chart for an impressive 101 weeks in a row. The song has gathered over 190,000 votes from fans.

As of October 4, The Astronaut is still holding the top spot with 193,570 votes, showing just how popular it is and how strong Jin’s streaming power remains.

The Twitter account 'Top40Kpop' used to be the official account of Argentina’s popular radio station Vega Radio but is now focused on K-pop rankings. This has grabbed the attention of K-pop fans from all around the world.

Last August, Vega Radio posted on social media that The Astronaut had been No. 1 for 43 straight weeks. They said, "As The Astronaut approaches its first anniversary, we want to explain why it keeps topping the KPOP TOP40. The Astronaut is a musical phenomenon that goes beyond just K-pop."

They also mentioned that the song, which Jin made with the legendary band Coldplay, mixes pop, rock, and '80s synthwave. These unique sounds have helped it reach a wide range of listeners across different age groups, making it a long-lasting hit.

In October of last year, Vega Radio even released a special video on YouTube to celebrate The Astronaut staying at No. 1 for 50 weeks. They dedicated the video to ARMYs (BTS fans), showing how much love they have for Jin and his music.

The Astronaut is a heartfelt song Jin dedicated to his fans before he left for his military service. Nearly two years after its release, the song continues to break records on different music charts, proving that Jin is still a top solo artist worldwide.

As of September 10, The Astronaut has reached over 500 million streams on Spotify, and by October 4, it surpassed 519 million streams. On Shazam, the song has been searched more than 17.15 million times.

After finishing his military service on June 12, Jin reunited with fans the very next day during BTS's 11th-anniversary '2024 FESTA'. He performed The Astronaut live in Korea for the first time, giving fans an emotional performance.

The song continues to capture the hearts of listeners around the world, keeping its promise to create an "endless history."

  • Hyun Bin Apologizes for the 'Ddongcha' Theory After 20 Years: "I Was Wrong" - Actor Clears the Air About Iconic Role

Hyun Bin is finally addressing the long-standing "ddongcha" (poop car) theory surrounding his character from My Name is Kim Sam-soon—and he's not holding back!

In an interview on the 19th with Star News, the beloved actor confessed, "I was wrong," responding to the reevaluation of his iconic role as Hyun Jin-heon from the 2005 hit drama. The "ddongcha" theory has been a subject of online debate for years, with many viewers critiquing Hyun Jin-heon’s character as overly arrogant and entitled.

Hyun Bin, who first rose to fame in My Name is Kim Sam-soon, took the time to reflect on the character that made him a household name. He shared, “I was just following the script; there were no personal opinions added to the character of Hyun Jin-heon. At that time, I knew Hyun Jin-heon was portrayed as a ‘bad boy,’ and the way it was expressed was different from today’s standards.”

With My Name is Kim Sam-soon now being re-released as part of Wavve's "New Classic" project, fans are revisiting the 2005 drama, and the character of Hyun Jin-heon is under fresh scrutiny. Director Kim Yun-cheol even admitted that the "prince on a white horse" and "bad boy" tropes that once worked in 2005 don’t quite match today's sensibilities, leading to edits in the 2024 version.

Hyun Bin humbly acknowledged his gratitude for his successful career and hit works, saying, "It’s wonderful and I am grateful to have so many hit works. I’ve been fortunate to work with amazing writers, directors, and actors. Thanks to them, I’ve received a lot of attention and love." He also shared a sense of humility, noting, “But I never know when that luck will come again."

Despite the dramatic shift in perspective on his character, Hyun Bin’s charm and dedication remain strong. Fans are eager to see him in his upcoming film Harbin (directed by Woo Min-ho), set to be released on the 24th.
