Singer and actor Rain recently shared heartfelt words about JYP's Park Jin Young. On September 19, Rain spoke about his mentor in a new video on his YouTube channel.
Rain started by saying, "When I'm on stage, I feel like I’m in a different state of mind. Honestly, I can't remember much afterward, almost like I have amnesia."
He added, "A performer needs to know how to have fun. Sticking too rigidly to things can make you look inexperienced."
Rain also reminisced about his time with Park Jin Young, sharing a special memory. He said, "Back when Jin Young hyung was promoting 'I Have a Woman,' I was the only one allowed to ride with him in his van. It wasn’t about special treatment; I just wanted to travel separately with him."
He continued, "Even while traveling, hyung used to train me. He’d make me sing, and if I made a mistake, he’d scold me harshly. I was so upset I would cry silently by the window. But I worked harder, practicing late into the night to impress him."
Rain explained his dedication, saying, "For me, practice means doing it perfectly. I had to get it right three times in a row before I could sleep. Mistakes in practice lead to mistakes on stage. It’s all about muscle memory—your body remembers."
In closing, Rain expressed his deep appreciation for Park Jin Young, saying, "Jin Young hyung always pushed me to my limits. Even now, I’m incredibly grateful and consider him a mentor for life."
