A fur coat worn by BIGBANG member G-Dragon (Kwon Ji Yong) during a performance has been sold at auction for 167 million KRW (about $125,000 USD).
The auction was held on the digital platform JUPITER, founded by pop star Pharrell Williams, and was titled “Nothing But a G Thing: G-Dragon’s Art and Archive.” It ran from September 2nd to the 10th.
G-Dragon put up several fashion items he’s collected, along with contemporary art, design objects, and memorabilia.
The most expensive item sold was a multicolored fur coat from Saga Furs. G-Dragon wore this coat during his solo rap performance at the 2014 MAMA Awards and on BigBang‘s “MADE” tour in 2015.
On September 9th, a day before the auction ended, the bidding for the coat was at around $12,000 USD (16 million KRW).
But in just 10 minutes, the price soared to $81,000 USD (110 million KRW). Eventually, it sold for $125,000 USD (167 million KRW) on September 10th.
Other items also sold for high prices. A director’s chair with G-Dragon’s real name, “Kwon Ji Yong,” engraved on it, which was used during his 2017 “Act III: M.O.T.T.E” world tour, sold for $51,250 USD (69 million KRW). A Chanel belt from the 2010 spring/summer season, signed by G-Dragon with the phrase “Kim Chaos Loves GD!”, was sold for $31,250 USD (42 million KRW).
