The police are now investigating a L’Occitane Korea employee, known as A, for leaking private photos of SEVENTEEN‘s Mingyu from a commercial shoot.
On September 10th, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul said, “We have received the complaint and have handed the case over to Investigation Team 1 and Team 2. We will decide on the next steps after further review and keep you updated via mail, phone, and text.”
Earlier, A posted on social media, revealing that Mingyu featured prominently in their photo album. They shared photos from Mingyu‘s ad shoot with the caption, “I haven’t been able to delete them because I was anxious, but should I clean them up now?” Some of these photos showed Mingyu with his top removed, which caused a stir.
L’Occitane Korea responded with an apology, saying, “We take this matter very seriously and deeply apologize to the artist and fans affected by this incident.” They continued, “We have immediately removed the employee from all duties and have suspended them.”
Following this, a netizen reported A to the Gangnam Police Station for breaching the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (using a camera for filming).
The netizen noted, “A’s comments about being ‘anxious and unable to delete’ the ‘unofficial photos’ suggest they knew the photos could cause sexual discomfort or shame.”
