SNL Korea Sparks Backlash with Parody of LE SSERAFIM and ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Ji Woong

Kim Sung Kyun‘s parody of LE SSERAFIM and ZEROBASEONE‘s Kim Ji Woong on SNL Korea Season 6 has started a heated discussion.

On the September 7th episode of Coupang Play‘s SNL Korea, Kim Sung Kyun appeared as the youngest member of the fictional idol group ‘Rice,‘ performing under the stage name ‘Kyoon-K.’

He recreated moments from music shows, fan signs, and challenge dances in a comedic way.

One standout moment was the parody of LE SSERAFIM’s Coachella performance. On the fake ‘Goa-chella‘ stage, ‘Kyoon-K‘ shouted phrases like “Are you ready?” and “Coachella!”—lines that LE SSERAFIM‘s Huh Yunjin said during their real Coachella show.

This playful mimicry brought laughs from the audience.

The episode also parodied ZEROBASEONE’s Kim Ji Woong and his fan sign controversy.

In the skit, ‘Kyoon-K‘ wrapped up a video call fan sign by politely thanking a fan but then muttered, “I don’t care about being an idol, I just want to quit everything,” before ending the call.

This was a reference to rumors that Kim Ji Woong cursed during a fan sign event earlier this year. WAKEONE, Kim Ji Woong’s agency, denied the claims, saying, “Voice analysis showed the words came from different people.”

Viewers were divided over the parody. Some criticized it, saying, “Why bring up old issues?” and “It felt more like mockery than comedy.” Others enjoyed the skit, saying, “Kim Sung Kyun was hilarious,” and “The parody was well done.”

SNL Korea Season 6 continues to air every Saturday at 8 p.m. on Coupang Play, promising more comedy for its audience.
