L'Occitane Korea has issued an apology after unauthorized shirtless photos of SEVENTEEN's Mingyu, a brand ambassador for the company, were leaked online by an employee.
On September 3rd, L'Occitane Korea took to their official social media to address the issue. They stated, "We recognize that private photos from the L'Occitane Asia Ambassador campaign were shared without permission through our employee's personal social media account. We take full responsibility for this incident and offer our sincere apologies." They added, "We are deeply sorry for the distress caused to Mingyu and his fans."
The company also announced that the employee involved has been suspended from their duties, and additional measures are being taken.
"We have removed the employee from all responsibilities and are implementing strict personnel actions," they said. "We will also be introducing regular training for all staff to ensure they understand and respect the copyrights, likeness rights, and privacy of our brand ambassadors."
The leaked photos, including some of Mingyu shirtless, were shared by an L'Occitane Korea employee with the caption, "Mingyu, who took up a significant portion of my photo album… I was too anxious to delete them, but maybe I should tidy them up now." The images, taken during a personal shoot for L'Occitane, sparked controversy.
Mingyu has been serving as L'Occitane's Asia brand ambassador since May.
