NewJeans (Minji, Hani, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) has reached a huge milestone with their song ‘Super Shy,’ hitting 600 million streams on Spotify.
As of August 30, Spotify reveals that ‘Super Shy,‘ one of the triple title tracks from NewJeans’ second EP Get Up, has clocked in a total of 600,355,596 streams.
This makes ‘Super Shy‘ the third track by NewJeans to hit the 600 million mark on Spotify, following hits like ‘OMG‘ and ‘Ditto.’
With its catchy club rhythm and upbeat beats, ‘Super Shy‘ quickly made waves. After its release in July last year, it topped charts both in Korea and internationally.
The track stayed on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart for 8 and 9 weeks, peaking at numbers 48 and 52, respectively.
It also soared to number 2 on the Billboard Global 200 and Global (excluding the US) charts, and entered the top 10 on Spotify Global and the US Daily Top Songs charts, setting new records for NewJeans.
To date, NewJeans has 13 songs with over 100 million streams each on Spotify. ‘OMG’ has surpassed 700 million streams, while ‘Ditto’ and ‘Super Shy’ each have over 600 million.
‘Hype Boy’ has over 500 million, ‘Attention’ has over 400 million, and ‘New Jeans,’ ‘ETA,’ and ‘Cookie’ each have over 200 million. ‘Hurt,’ ‘Cool With You,’ ‘ASAP,’ ‘Get Up,’ and ‘How Sweet’ have all surpassed 100 million streams. In total, NewJeans’ songs have accumulated 5 billion streams on Spotify.
In other news, NewJeans has been nominated for ‘Best Group’ at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA), announced on August 30. This follows their earlier nomination for ‘Best K-Pop’ with ‘Super Shy,’ making it two categories where they are vying for awards.
