• Choi Jin Hyuk Prepares to Say Goodbye to His Dog: "Just Thinking About It Brings Tears"

Choi Jin Hyuk is getting ready to say a heartbreaking farewell to his beloved dog, Mong Sil.

On September 1, SBS’s variety show My Ugly Duckling will feature Choi Jin Hyuk as he prepares for the final days of Mong Sil, who has been diagnosed with angiosarcoma, a severe type of cancer similar to blood cancer in humans.

Choi Jin Hyuk visited the vet for Mong Sil’s check-up, where he learned that the prognosis for angiosarcoma is just 1 to 2 weeks. Hearing that Mong Sil could pass away at any moment deeply upset him.

The sight of Mong Sil, whose condition had caused her body to turn gray as the cancer spread, brought tears to his mother’s eyes. She shared that every day felt like walking on thin ice.

To prepare for Mong Sil’s final goodbye, Choi Jin Hyuk went to a pet funeral home to observe the procedures from washing to cremation. Overcome with emotion, he said, “Just thinking about it brings tears.”

He was especially touched when he visited the columbarium where pets are kept, unable to look away from one spot, his eyes reddening with sadness. Even Seong Joon Hoon, who was there with him, couldn’t hold back his tears.

Choi Jin Hyuk also tried to cook a special meal for Mong Sil, who had lost her appetite. Despite his enthusiasm, he faced some cooking mishaps, including breaking the burner and awkwardly cutting carrots with scissors.

Despite these challenges, he did his best for Mong Sil. His efforts led to a cooking disaster that left his mother sighing in frustration.
