Singer PSY has publicly shown his support for BTS’s Suga, despite the recent DUI controversy surrounding him.
On August 25, during his solo concert "PSY Summer Swag" in Suwon, PSY took a moment to express his gratitude to Suga. Just before performing "That That," PSY said, “I want to thank Suga for making this song with me and for his support.”
PSY and Suga collaborated on the hit track "That That" from PSY’s 9th studio album, PSY 9th, which came out on April 29, 2022. Suga played a big role as a lyricist, composer, arranger, and featured rapper on the track.
It’s been reported that Suga went out of his way to contact PSY for this collaboration, even tracking down his contact details to send a message.
At a press conference for PSY’s comeback, PSY praised Suga for his dedication, saying, “Suga put in an incredible amount of effort, from songwriting and composing to the music video, without any conditions.”
Suga also made a guest appearance at PSY's "PSY Summer Swag" concert at Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul in 2022.
PSY himself has faced controversy in the past, including drug scandals and issues with military service. His support for Suga now reflects his loyalty and empathy towards his fellow artist.
As for Suga, he was found by the police on August 6 at around 11:15 PM, riding an electric scooter while intoxicated near Nine One Hanam in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. His blood alcohol level was 0.227%, well over the legal limit of 0.08%.
Under current laws, a blood alcohol concentration of 0.2% or higher can lead to imprisonment for 2 to 5 years or a fine between 10 to 20 million won.
