• BTS’s Suga Apologizes to Members and Fans, Says He Will Humbly Accept Any Future Punishments

BTS member Suga (real name Min Yoongi) has once again apologized for his involvement in a recent drunk driving incident.

On August 25th, Suga shared a handwritten apology on Weverse, expressing his deep regret for the incident that happened earlier this month.

"I want to apologize again with a deep sense of shame," Suga began. "I sincerely apologize for disappointing and hurting the fans and everyone who loves me because of my wrongful actions. I deeply regret that I forgot the responsibility to repay the love I’ve received with good behavior and made a serious mistake."

He clarified that it was an "electric scooter," not an "electric kickboard," involved in the incident, and explained, "On the night of the 6th, after drinking, I made the mistake of riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk. I’m also sorry for the confusion caused by the quickly posted first apology on the 7th. I should have thought more carefully, but I failed."

Suga continued, "This is entirely my fault. My thoughtlessness has caused difficulties for everyone who cares about me. I will work hard to live a life of repentance and make sure not to repeat such mistakes."

Talking about BTS, Suga said, "Because of this incident, I’ve ruined the precious memories I made with the members and fans, and I’ve brought shame to BTS’s name. I’m deeply sorry and troubled for causing harm to the members and the team. I understand how disappointed the fans who supported me must feel."

He added, "I’m filled with regret towards the fans who have always given me more love than I deserve. I know that no words can heal the wounds and disappointment I’ve caused, so I’m reflecting on my actions every day with a heavy heart. Once again, I sincerely apologize to all the fans I have hurt."

Suga ended by saying, "I will humbly accept any future punishments, criticism, and reprimands. I sincerely apologize again for causing social controversy and disappointing many people."

On August 23rd, Suga appeared at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul for questioning, following his duties as a social service worker. He spent about three hours being questioned by the police.

In front of reporters, Suga said, "I am deeply reflecting and regretting my actions. I apologize for causing so much hurt and disappointment with my wrongful behavior."

It was reported that Suga admitted to the charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) during the investigation.
