BTS member V continues to make waves globally with his solo track "FRI(END)S," which has now surpassed 310 million streams on Spotify.
The song, released on March 15 during his military service, hit this milestone on August 22 on the world’s largest music streaming platform. On August 23, "FRI(END)S" also topped the charts on Deezer in four countries, including Japan and Indonesia.
"FRI(END)S" has set the record as the most-streamed K-pop solo track on Spotify in the first half of 2024. It’s also ranked among the top 10 K-pop solo songs with the longest time on the global Spotify charts, showing V’s continued global popularity even while he’s on military hiatus.
In total, all the songs credited to V on Spotify have surpassed 3.4 billion streams, highlighting his worldwide influence.
When "FRI(END)S" was released in March, it debuted at No. 65 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, No. 5 on the Global 200, and No. 3 on the Billboard Global (excluding the U.S.) charts. The track also debuted at No. 13 on the UK Official Singles Chart and stayed there for two consecutive weeks.
On the UK’s Official Big Top 40 chart, "FRI(END)S" debuted at No. 3 after just two days of tracking and remained on the chart for five weeks, setting a new record for the longest-charting K-pop song.
"FRI(END)S" was also the first song in 2024 to reach No. 1 on the iTunes chart in 100 countries, and it has since topped the charts in 102 countries.
The music video for "FRI(END)S" has received a lot of love as well. Upon its release, the video topped YouTube's World Trend Music chart and stayed at No. 1 for 14 consecutive days.
It became the first K-pop artist’s music video to reach No. 1 on the TIDAL Top Video chart in the U.S. and topped the charts in a total of 23 countries on TIDAL's Top Video chart.
