KBS has stated that BTS's Suga will not face immediate restrictions on his appearances following his recent drunk driving incident. This is because Suga is currently serving as a social service worker and is not active in entertainment activities due to his military duties.
On August 16, KBS confirmed they will not hold a review committee meeting to discuss any restrictions for Suga at this time. The reason given is that since Suga is fulfilling his military service, he isn’t involved in KBS programs, and therefore, he isn’t on the review committee's list.
A KBS representative told Star News, “Suga is currently serving in alternative military service and does not have any scheduled appearances on KBS. There is no need to discuss or take action on restrictions for him at this moment. We are also waiting for the outcome of the police investigation.”
KBS’s review committee evaluates the appearances of individuals involved in legal or social issues. This includes cases like arrests, military evasion, drug use, fraud, assault, and other serious matters.
If the committee finds an issue, they might recommend measures such as restricting appearances, temporary suspensions, or banning appearances based on the case's severity.
Previously, singer Kim Ho-joong was temporarily suspended from appearances while facing hit-and-run charges, and actor Kim Sae-ron faced a suspension after a drunk driving incident that led to a fine.
On August 6, Suga was stopped by police near his home in Hannam-dong, Seoul, while riding an electric scooter. His blood alcohol level was 0.227%, significantly above the legal limit of 0.08%. The police plan to summon him for further questioning soon.
