• BTS's Suga Caught Riding Electric Scooter While Drunk - CCTV Footage Revealed

CCTV footage shows BTS's Suga riding a foldable electric scooter while drunk.

On August 7, JTBC's 'Newsroom' reported that BTS's Suga, currently serving as a social service worker, was investigated by police for drunk driving.

The footage from around 11 PM on August 6 shows Suga riding an electric scooter in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. According to 'Newsroom,' "Suga arrived near his home and fell while parking. A patrolling police officer, smelling alcohol, took him to the station for a sobriety test. The police found Suga with the scooter and his blood alcohol level was high enough for license cancellation."

Suga apologized on August 7, saying, "I drank at dinner last night and rode an electric scooter home. I didn't realize riding it drunk was illegal because it was a short distance. I fell while parking at my house, and a nearby officer tested me, leading to license cancellation and a fine. Although there were no damaged facilities or victims, I take full responsibility and sincerely apologize to everyone."

His agency, Big Hit Music, added, "Suga rode the scooter home while wearing a helmet. He fell after traveling about 500 meters, and a nearby officer tested him, resulting in a fine and license cancellation. We apologize for the artist's inappropriate behavior. He will face appropriate disciplinary actions from his workplace for causing social disruption as a social service worker."

'Newsroom' reported that the vehicle Suga was riding is a foldable electric scooter, with a top speed of 30 km/h. It's classified as a personal mobility device like an electric kickboard, subject to license suspension or cancellation and fines for drunk driving.

If the scooter's speed or engine displacement is higher, the penalty can be a fine of up to 10 million won or imprisonment for up to two years.

Amid the controversy, the Military Manpower Administration stated, "If a social service worker commits a crime outside of working hours, there is no secondary disciplinary action after civilian legal punishment."
