• BTS's Jimin Earns the Title 'Main Pop Boy' of the Global Music Market

    BTS's Jimin is shining brightly on global music charts, hitting number one worldwide.

    Jimin's solo second album, 'MUSE,' released on July 19, has been making waves. The title track 'WHO' has topped global charts, including the U.S. Billboard, and secured the number one spot on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) official chart.

    Jimin previously topped the charts with 'Like Crazy' from his first solo album, making him the first Korean artist to achieve two number ones on this chart. This is his fourth entry on the MENA chart.

    'WHO' stayed at number one for two weeks on the IMI chart (International Singles Charts India). It also topped the Top Regional Chart and ranked second on the Top Streaming Chart of the Singapore RIAS weekly chart (July 19, 2024 - July 25, 2024).

    In the New Zealand Hot 40 Singles Chart, 'WHO' claimed the second spot, while 'Be Mine' from 'MUSE' debuted at 31st, 'Slow Dance (feat. Sofia Carson)' at 32nd, and 'Reverse' at 35th, showing strong performance.'

    On the Hungarian Singles Chart, 'WHO' debuted at 40th, and the album charted at 4th, making it the second-highest ranking for an Asian solo artist. This is Jimin's second top-five entry following 'FACE.' The Hungarian Physical Album Chart also saw 'MUSE' debut at 4th.

    In Australia, 'MUSE' debuted at 27th on the ARIA Top 50 Albums Chart. In Poland, the album ranked 5th on the Polish Albums Chart, 5th on the Physical Album Chart, and 21st on the Streaming Albums Chart.

    In Greece, 'MUSE' reached 29th on the Albums Chart, and 'WHO' secured the 49th spot on the Greece Digital Singles International Chart. This marks his third top 50 entry and fifth chart entry overall, making Jimin one of the Korean solo artists with the most chart entries.

    With the release of his second solo album, Jimin continues to enjoy immense global popularity, showing his 'Main Pop Boy' prowess, as mentioned by Grammy.com, despite his military hiatus.

The "ddongcha" theory has been a subject of online debate for years, with many viewers critiquing Hyun Jin-heon’s character as overly arrogant and entitled.

    Hyun Bin, who first rose to fame in My Name is Kim Sam-soon, took the time to reflect on the character that made him a household name. He shared, “I was just following the script; there were no personal opinions added to the character of Hyun Jin-heon. At that time, I knew Hyun Jin-heon was portrayed as a ‘bad boy,’ and the way it was expressed was different from today’s standards.”

    With My Name is Kim Sam-soon now being re-released as part of Wavve's "New Classic" project, fans are revisiting the 2005 drama, and the character of Hyun Jin-heon is under fresh scrutiny. Director Kim Yun-cheol even admitted that the "prince on a white horse" and "bad boy" tropes that once worked in 2005 don’t quite match today's sensibilities, leading to edits in the 2024 version.

    Hyun Bin humbly acknowledged his gratitude for his successful career and hit works, saying, "It’s wonderful and I am grateful to have so many hit works. I’ve been fortunate to work with amazing writers, directors, and actors. Thanks to them, I’ve received a lot of attention and love." He also shared a sense of humility, noting, “But I never know when that luck will come again."

    Despite the dramatic shift in perspective on his character, Hyun Bin’s charm and dedication remain strong. Fans are eager to see him in his upcoming film Harbin (directed by Woo Min-ho), set to be released on the 24th.
