Source Music, part of the entertainment company HYBE, has pushed back against claims made by Min Hee Jin, CEO of ADOR. On July 23, Source Music released a statement on their official SNS, saying, "Min Hee Jin’s statement today includes false claims about Source Music. We need to set the record straight."
They added, "CEO Min’s claim that we copied her launch strategy is not true. We never copied any strategy from Min Hee Jin, who was the CBO at the time. We also never received any complaints about this."
Source Music clarified, "In May 2020, Chairman Bang Si Hyuk suggested that Min Hee Jin, then CBO, should develop her launch strategy with a 'new team' for her own label, not N Team. Even though CEO Min knows about these discussions, she is misrepresenting them to suggest that Chairman Bang intended for her strategy to be used with N Team."
Dispatch had reported that CEO Min was involved in the branding for N Team's debut, which included NewJeans members as Source Music trainees. However, Min reportedly extended her influence to focus on NewJeans' debut, causing delays in N Team’s debut schedule.
In response, CEO Min’s team argued, "The article is based on speculation and false facts. We will take strong legal action." They also claimed, "The idea that N Team’s debut was delayed due to CEO Min’s actions is completely false," and provided emails and a timeline to support their position.
As Source Music counters CEO Min’s claims, the dispute between the two parties continues. Source Music stated, "CEO Min is spreading false information about us. In addition to the damage compensation lawsuit we previously filed, we will take further legal action. We are ready to share any materials needed to reveal the truth."
On July 15, Source Music revealed that they had filed a lawsuit seeking several billion won in damages against CEO Min. Although the exact amount wasn’t disclosed, it is known that Source Music is seeking around 500 million won for defamation, business interference, and damages caused by CEO Min.
