BLACKPINK member Jennie is making headlines with her Emmy nomination for her role in ‘The Idol,’ her first American drama.
On July 17th, the Academy announced the nominees for the 76th Emmy Awards. Jennie’s HBO series ‘The Idol’ received a nod for Outstanding Choreography for a Scripted Program.
‘The Idol’ is set in the Los Angeles music scene and follows a popular female pop singer’s journey and romance. Jennie’s role as Diane, a backup dancer for Lily-Rose Depp’s character, has drawn attention.
The nomination highlights the dance scene where Jennie and Lily-Rose Depp perform to ‘World Class Sinner,’ choreographed by Nina McNeill.
Despite the buzz, Jennie faced some controversy after ‘The Idol’ premiered. Her bold choreography, revealing outfits, and close contact with male dancers sparked criticism from fans. But the Emmy nomination has brought renewed focus to the scene.
Jennie has also faced recent issues with her solo activities. Her YouTube channel showed her smoking an electronic cigarette indoors, which upset some fans and staff.
In response, Jennie’s agency, OA Entertainment, apologized and said Jennie is reflecting on her actions and has reached out to those affected.
As Jennie continues to navigate these challenges, all eyes are on her future projects and how she will handle them.
