SEVENTEEN's Woozi has denied using AI for writing and composing their music.
On July 14th, Woozi posted on social media, saying, "All of SEVENTEEN's music is written and composed by human creators."
This was in response to a BBC report that suggested some K-pop stars use AI for creating songs and music videos. On July 11th, the BBC reported, "From music video production to songwriting, can K-pop's AI experiment succeed?" They claimed K-pop stars, including SEVENTEEN, use AI technology in their songs and videos.
The BBC specifically mentioned that SEVENTEEN's new song "Maestro" had AI-generated scenes in its music video and that the lyrics were also AI-assisted.
They referenced a comment from Woozi at the "SEVENTEEN is Right Here" press conference where he said, "We practiced making songs using AI because we wanted to progress with technology rather than complain about it." However, this was a misunderstanding.
Woozi explained that he was just exploring how to keep their unique style with new technology, and the AI experiments were just part of this exploration.
To clear up the rumors, SEVENTEEN's agency, Pledis Entertainment, quickly responded. Pledis said, "The claim that AI was used for SEVENTEEN's song lyrics is not true, and we have contacted the media outlet to correct the information."
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN, including Woozi, will have their fan meeting "2024 SVT 8th Fan Meeting SEVENTEEN in Carat Land" on July 23rd and 24th at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
