BTS member V's solo track 'Friends' continues to dominate in global popularity, securing 1st place for 14 straight weeks in the Tokyo FM popularity poll.
'Friends' topped the Tokyo FM 'K-Star Chart This Week's Top10' for June 24th, setting a record 14-week streak at the top.
"It's truly amazing to see 'Friends' loved by so many fans," V shared in a statement.
The song was also named the MVP song of the second season (April-June) of the 'K-Star Chart,' earning three special awards and featured prominently on Spotify-curated playlists, airing on Tokyo FM every Friday from 6:00 PM to 6:25 PM.
Since its release on March 15th, 'Friends' has maintained strong popularity in Japan. It debuted at 2nd place on the Japanese 'Oricon Daily Single Digital Chart,' with all four versions—original, remixes, and instrumentals—entering the top 10.
It also topped iTunes Japan Top Songs and recently regained the top spot on Deezer's 'Top 100 Japan' chart on June 21st.
'Friends' continues to thrive globally, reaching 1st place on Tidal's 'Daily Top Videos Chart' in 22 countries, a milestone for BTS as the first K-pop artist to achieve this feat. As of June 30th, it reclaimed 2nd place on the 'Global Tidal Daily Top Videos Chart,' the highest ever for an Asian artist.
In 2024, 'Friends' became the first song released that year to top iTunes charts in 100 countries worldwide. It made waves on U.S. Billboard charts, peaking at 65th on the 'Hot 100,' 5th on the 'Global 200,' and 3rd on the 'Billboard Global (Excluding U.S.)' charts, holding strong for 9 weeks on the latter.
In the UK, 'Friends' made history among K-pop songs released in 2024, reaching 13th place on the UK Official Chart. It also set a record for the longest-running entry by a K-pop solo artist on the 'UK Official Single Download' and 'UK Official Single Sales' charts, with a total of 4 weeks.
