Red Velvet's Joy opened up about her time during the 'Zimzalabim' era.
On July 1, Joy appeared on the web variety show with fellow members Seulgi and Yeri.
Joy said, "I watched a collection of videos from my debut until now made by a broadcasting station. I was shocked by my appearance during my debut," catching everyone's attention.
She explained, "At the beginning of my debut, I smiled brightly, but as time went by, I looked more and more exhausted. 'Zimzalabim' is a spell that calls for happiness, so I thought I needed to smile genuinely and happily to persuade people with this absurd spell. So, I smiled with all my might."
Joy added, "But I became happier myself. At that time, I didn't care about the results or anything else, I only thought about the meaning of the song. I performed desperately, thinking it might be Red Velvet's last stage."
She also shared, "Fans even ask us to sing this song as an encore at concerts. I wondered, 'Did our sincerity get through?' It was then that I felt 'happy on stage' for the first time."
