• 'SKY Castle' Confirmed for Japanese Remake

'SKY Castle' is set for a Japanese remake.

On the 11th, Studio SLL (SLL Central) revealed that 'SKY Castle' will be remade in Japan, with the casting of lead actors finalized and production already begun. The Japanese version, titled 'スカイキャッスル' ('Sky Castle'), is set to premiere in mid-July on Japan's renowned private broadcaster TV Asahi.

This remake marks the first collaboration between SLL and TV Asahi following their recent mutual cooperation agreement signed on May 17, aimed at jointly planning and developing competitive content for the global market.

While the original series revolved around the cutthroat competition of college entrance exams, the Japanese adaptation of 'SKY Castle' will shift its focus to the challenges of high school entrance exams. Reflecting the unique educational landscape in Japan, the remake aims to differentiate itself from the original while staying true to its essence.

The lead roles in the intense exam battle have been cast for the Japanese 'SKY Castle.' Popular Japanese actress Nao Matsushita will take on the role of Han Seo-jin, previously portrayed by Yeom Jung-ah. Kimura Fumino will step into the shoes of Lee Soo-im (Lee Tae-ran), while Manami Higa will portray No Seung-hye (Yoon Se-ah). Maryjun Takahashi will play Jin Jin-hee (Oh Na-ra), and Koyuki will portray Kim Joo-young (Kim Seo-hyung).

Park Jun-seo, head of SLL's production department, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, "I'm delighted to announce this meaningful collaboration with TV Asahi. With the 'SKY Castle' remake as our starting point, we aim to continue creating competitive content for the global audience."

During the broadcast, she revealed that negative online comments had deeply affected her. "I used to cry all the time reading comments. I get hurt easily. What might be a small wound for others feels like a huge blow to me," she shared, expressing the stress she faced from malicious remarks.

She also admitted that at one point, she wanted to leave everything behind. "I kept thinking, ‘How long do I have to keep working this hard?’ and it became overwhelming."
