In the latest episode of Pixid’s Country Kitchen Dream, (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon took viewers on a journey through a traditional Korean village.
Amidst the hustle and bustle of various tasks, she found a sense of familiarity and comfort.
“I feel at home here now,” Soyeon shared while walking toward the village hall. But her reflections didn’t stop there.
She drew parallels between this peaceful village and her experience at CUBE Entertainment, the agency she’s signed with.
“It’s like being at CUBE,” Soyeon explained. “Kinda comfortable but kinda uncomfortable.” It’s a sentiment that many artists can relate to—the push and pull of creative freedom versus industry constraints.
(G)I-DLE made their debut under CUBE Entertainment in 2018, and Soyeon has been a driving force behind their success.
As the group’s head producer, she’s earned praise for her innovative ideas and musical leadership.
However, Soyeon hasn’t always had an easy path. She’s spoken out about the company’s lack of support for some of her decisions.
Take the song “DUMDi DUMDi,” for example. CUBE Entertainment initially opposed its release, doubting its potential success.
“There were many times when we almost used someone else’s song,” Soyeon revealed. “My company said ‘DUMDi DUMDi’ wasn’t good, and they wanted to choose a different track. There were some villains there.”
Soyeon’s candid remarks shed light on the complexities of the artist-agency relationship. Despite the challenges, she continues to thrive as a talented performer and producer.
