• 'Queen of Tears' star Park Sung Hoon reveals it took him months to get Kim Soo Hyun & Kim Ji Won's phone numbers

'Queen of Tears' star Park Sung Hoon recently sat down for a chat with XSportsNews at the BH Entertainment office in Seoul, dishing out some behind-the-scenes stories from the hit tvN weekend drama 'Queen of Tears'.

The drama has been making waves, not just for its high ratings, but also for the buzz it's been generating. It even set a record for the highest viewership in tvN history! The cast and crew had such a blast that they held not one, but two wrap-up parties and even talked about going on a reward vacation.

Park Sung Hoon shared, "We were all hoping that our 14th episode could beat the ratings of 'Crash Landing on You'. The wrap-up party was full of hopeful chatter and good vibes."

He also revealed a fun tidbit about a group chat with Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Ji Won, Kwak Dong Yeon, and Lee Joo Bin. Apparently, it's currently inactive, or as he jokingly put it, "dead". He explained, "We're all introverts, so we mostly chatted about the show doing well and how much fun we were having."

In a hilarious twist, Park Sung Hoon confessed that he didn't have Soo Hyun and Ji Won's numbers until after the 10th episode.

He said, "I remember an actor once suggested we all exchange numbers on the first day of script reading. It was a great idea for breaking the ice. I wanted to do the same for 'Queen of Tears', but I wasn't feeling well that day. So, I ended up not knowing their numbers for months."

He added, laughing, "I finally mustered up the courage to ask for their numbers." When asked if there might be a separate group chat without him, he responded with a playful, "I hope not…"

Talking about his chemistry with Kim Soo Hyun, he said, "We're very similar, even our MBTI types match. Our acting styles clicked right away." He also praised Soo Hyun's good looks and captivating eyes, calling him a "beloved younger brother".

As for Kim Ji Won, he described her as a "flawless character" and a "top student". He admired her transformation into her character, Hae In, and her dedication to dieting for almost a year. He said, "I heard a lot of compliments about Ji Won's beauty in this drama. As an older brother figure, I felt proud seeing the results of her hard work."

Park Sung Hoon believes that the success of 'Queen of Tears' is due to the actors, production team, and the writer, Park Ji Eun, who knows exactly what the viewers want to see. He said, "The drama shows the scenes that viewers want to see. When I see the couple Hae In and Hyun Woo, I feel proud, and I also feel sad in the sad scenes."

He also mentioned some memorable scenes, saying, "Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won make a visually stunning pair. I was proud to watch them. There are countless scenes like the umbrella scene and the aquarium scene in the early episodes that left a strong impression."
