Cha Eun Woo Shocks Fans by Turning Down Hong Sisters' Project to Star in His First Lead Role
Cha Eun Woo is making major moves in his career and fans are buzzing about his latest project decisions! On April 3, his agency, Fantagio, confirmed that he will star in the upcoming movie First Ride (working title), marking his first-ever lead role on the big screen.
The agency shared the exciting news, saying, “Cha Eun Woo has confirmed his appearance in First Ride, and we thank everyone for their continued love and support.” Fans are excited about the actor’s new adventure as this will be his first time carrying a film as the main character, after his previous supporting roles in My Brilliant Life and a special appearance in Decibel.
But here's the twist—before landing this role, Cha Eun Woo had been in talks with the Hong Sisters’ new project alongside actress Go Min Si, leaving fans hoping to see him in yet another high-profile drama. Unfortunately, Cha Eun Woo decided not to take part in that project, which left many of his followers feeling disappointed.
Instead, he has chosen First Ride, a story about four friends who turn 30 and go on their first overseas trip together. The film, directed by Nam Dae Jung (The Great Wish, 30 Days), promises to be a fun and emotional ride, and fans are already excited to see Cha Eun Woo in action. There’s even buzz about actor Kang Ha Neul joining the cast, which has added more hype for their first collaboration!
Meanwhile, Cha Eun Woo is also working hard on his Netflix series The Wonderfuls, a supernatural action-comedy set in 1999.
The series follows a group of local misfits who gain superpowers and must fight against a villain threatening their city.
As Cha Eun Woo continues to impress with his acting choices, fans are curious to see how he balances both projects.
Lee Jong Suk, a close friend of Cha Eun Woo, has shown his full support, with many fans reacting to his positive response to the actor's career path.
