DAY6’s Young K recently spilled the beans on the band’s origin story. On April 23, Young K made a special guest appearance on the Vivo TV YouTube talk show, where he was chauffeured to his next stop by Song Eun Yi.
In the video posted on that day, Young K opened up about the group’s first full group comeback in four years.
He revealed that due to COVID-19 and the members’ compulsory military service, they had taken a break for four years.
Specifically, Young K disclosed that the members had coordinated their enlistment to ensure that they would enlist and also be discharged around the same time.
Also, during the show, Young K looked back on his journey since joining JYP Entertainment and the group’s evolution as DAY6.
He shared, “Back when I was in Canada, many people complimented my singing skills, which really boosted my confidence. But after joining JYP, I was humbled because it felt like all the talented people were gathered at JYP.”
Young K also revealed that DAY6 was formed as a band due to the members’ lack of dance skills. He shared, “We were the first group that JYP Entertainment gave up on when it comes to dancing. That’s why we formed DAY6 as a band. It wasn’t because we were all good at playing instruments.”
