Out of nowhere, a second-gen girl group is getting some buzz.
Netizens recently dug up two performances of TS Entertainment girl group SECRET. Composed of Hyosung, Hana, Sunhwa, and Jieun, they’re a four-member girl group that rocked the stage from 2009 to 2018.
The first video that popped up was SECRET’s performance of “Magic” from their 2010 album Secret Time.
The second was their track “Love Is Move” from their 2011 album Moving in Secret.
Both are peppy songs with high-octane dances to match. Despite the high difficulty level, the SECRET members were clearly belting out live with barely any backtrack.
Netizens were blown away by their totally unfiltered vocals. They all agreed that the girl group is “seriously good” at performing, and they also mentioned missing the second gen of K-Pop as the current one is “on a downward trend.”
“Even though there are only four members, they handle their parts way better than those who divvy them up and sing” “Their performance is flawless, it’s insane. Personally, among the second-gen girl groups that aren’t active anymore, they’re the squad I most want to see again…” “Seriously, they’re so good.” “They’re too good.” “Seriously, the second gen was the best…they danced fiercely in high heels and sang live like that, it’s mind-blowing. Back then I didn’t feel it as strongly because it seemed natural like that’s how it’s supposed to be, but now, K-Pop is on a downward trend.” “They’re really good.” “When you watch videos of them performing live, you realize that there are really a lot of second-gen groups who are full of charisma and perform well. They’re really good.” The K-Pop world has been buzzing with debates on the singing abilities of idols lately.
HYBE‘s new group, ILLIT, for instance, was slammed for their off-key singing in music show encore stages.
LE SSERAFIM has also been catching heat for their below-par vocal abilities in Coachella, with netizens disliking even more how they lip-synched in the second week.
