Actress Kim Sae Ron is making a comeback to the theater, following a two-year hiatus due to a drunk driving controversy.
Kim Sae Ron is set to star in the play 'Dongchimi', scheduled to run from May 3rd to 12th at the CTS Art Hall in Seoul.
'Dongchimi' is a heartwarming story about a family of five, including a straightforward but family-loving father, a selfless mother, and three siblings who may bicker but are deeply devoted to their parents.
Kim Sae Ron will be playing the role of the youngest daughter, Jung Yeon, and is expected to perform six times.
Kim Sae Ron's return to acting comes nearly three years after her last appearance in the 2021 drama special 'The Palace'.
She was also part of the Netflix series 'Bloodhounds' released in June last year, but most of her scenes were edited out due to the drunk driving incident.
Netizens have shared mixed reactions to her comeback:
"I'm struggling to understand her motive, as her acting doesn't seem to overshadow her controversy."
"She must have some strong connections."
"This is the quickest comeback from DUI charges I've ever seen."
"This could be her reward for keeping quiet about that photo with Kim Soo Hyun."
"I'm not against her making a fresh start, but I'm not entirely convinced."
"Now I'm starting to believe the rumors about her dating KSH. She posted a picture of them together and now she's landed a lead role in a drama. Was the picture a veiled threat?"
"A fresh start means a new approach, a new mindset, and a deeper appreciation for what was lost… I hope she has truly changed for the better, both as a person and as an actor."
