• ”Queen of Tears” and It’s Stars Tops Most Buzzworthy Drama List For the 5th Time Having a Close Fight with New Drama “Lovely Runner”

    'Queen of Tears' continues to reign supreme, breaking its own record for the fifth consecutive week since its debut.

    In the April 2nd week TV-OTT drama topic survey conducted by Good data Corporation, a K-content online competitiveness analysis organization, tvN's 'Queen of Tears' secured the top spot for the sixth consecutive week and surpassed its previous best record for the fifth week in a row.

    In terms of performers, Kim Soo Hyun reclaimed the top spot for the second consecutive week, tying with Kim Ji Won for three weeks in total. Supporting actors Park Sung Hoon, Kwak Dong Hyun, and Kim Gap Soo also made notable appearances, ranking 5th, 8th, and 9th, respectively.

    On the other hand, tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama'Lovely Runner' exceeded expectations, starting with a high level of interest.

    The topicality score for ''Lovely Runner' ' in its first week surpassed that of 'Queen of Tears', making it the drama with the highest initial response among TV dramas launched in the past year. Byun Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, the main actors of ''Lovely Runner' ', ranked 3rd and 4th in the performer category.

    Other notable dramas included Netflix's 'Parasitic Water: The Gray', which saw a 26.8% increase in topicality compared to its first week of release, and MBC's 'Wonderful World', which achieved a 47.5% increase in topicality.

    Han Hyo Joo, the lead actress of Disney+'s 'Domination', also made an impact, ranking 10th in the performer category.

    The April 2nd week survey conducted by FUNdex, the official platform of Good data Corporation, included TV dramas and OTT original dramas along with performers appearing in each program broadcast or scheduled to be released from April 8 to April 14, 2023.

    This topical survey analyzes various sources such as news articles, Voice of Netizen (VON), video clips, social media, program-related information, and netizens' reactions to determine the most competitive program of the week. Through rigorous data analysis and filtering stages, the survey ensures accuracy levels exceeding 97%.

  • Kim Soo Hyun Cannot Be Prosecuted for Alleged Relationship with the Late Kim Sae Ron as a Minor—Lawyer Explains Why the Law Does Not Apply

    Kim Soo Hyun has admitted to dating the late Kim Sae Ron but strongly denies that their relationship began when she was a minor.

    On March 14, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, released a statement saying, “Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron dated from the summer of 2019, after she became an adult, until the fall of 2020.” They emphasized, “The claim that he was in a relationship with her when she was a minor is not true.”

    The agency also clarified that the photos of the two, which were revealed by Garo Sero Research Institute (Gaseyeon) and Kim Sae Ron herself, were taken in 2020 when she was already of legal age.

    Regarding the legal implications of the allegations, lawyer Lee Go Eun appeared on YTN News to discuss whether Kim Soo Hyun could face charges if it were proven that he had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron when she was underage.

    When asked about the possibility of legal punishment, Lee explained, “Under the law revised in May 2020, any physical relationship with a minor under the age of 16, even with consent, could lead to serious charges.”

    However, she pointed out a key legal detail, saying, “Before the 2020 revision, the law applied only to minors under 13 years old. Since Kim Sae Ron was 15 in 2015, the legal framework at the time does not classify her as a protected minor in this context.”

    Lee concluded, “Given the laws in place at the time, it seems difficult for Kim Soo Hyun to face legal consequences.”

    She further added, “For any case to proceed against him, there would need to be clear evidence of more than just dating. Based on what is currently known, holding him legally accountable may be challenging.”
