    Get ready, fans! The much-loved drama 'Queen of Tears', featuring the dynamic duo Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, is set to extend its magic with a special edition, thanks to its soaring popularity.

    As per a recent report from StarNews on April 8th, the makers of the tvN weekend drama 'Queen of Tears' (scripted by Park Ji Eun, directed by Jang Young Woo and Kim Hee Won, and produced by Studio Dragon, Culture Depot, Showrunners) are gearing up for a two-part special.

    While the details about the 'Queen of Tears' special are still under wraps, it's confirmed that it won't just be a run-of-the-mill highlight reel. Given the drama's massive fan following, the special is expected to offer something fresh and exciting, different from the usual tvN specials.

    'Queen of Tears' is a heart-tugging drama that unfolds the roller-coaster journey of a third-year married couple, featuring Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), a third-generation chaebol of the Queens Group and queen of department stores, and Baek Hyun Woo (played by Kim Soo Hyun), the son of a market leader and prince of supermarkets. The drama first hit the screens on March 9th.

    The drama is smashing records left and right! On April 7th, the 10th episode recorded a whopping viewership rating of 19.0% (based on Nielsen Korea's paid platform nationwide), setting a new personal best. This feat has catapulted it to the second spot in the history of tvN's weekend dramas.

    Hyun Bin, who first rose to fame in My Name is Kim Sam-soon, took the time to reflect on the character that made him a household name. He shared, “I was just following the script; there were no personal opinions added to the character of Hyun Jin-heon. At that time, I knew Hyun Jin-heon was portrayed as a ‘bad boy,’ and the way it was expressed was different from today’s standards.”

    With My Name is Kim Sam-soon now being re-released as part of Wavve's "New Classic" project, fans are revisiting the 2005 drama, and the character of Hyun Jin-heon is under fresh scrutiny. Director Kim Yun-cheol even admitted that the "prince on a white horse" and "bad boy" tropes that once worked in 2005 don’t quite match today's sensibilities, leading to edits in the 2024 version.
