G-Dragon’s Creative Stint Prosper as ‘Youth is Flower’ Artwork Hits Auction Block with a Starting Bid of “$23,000 USD”

A selection of G-Dragon‘s artwork is set to be auctioned at the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center on March 29 KST, adding a unique touch to the contemporary art event.

One of the eye-catching pieces up for sale is titled ‘Youth is Flower.’

Created in 2017, the artwork showcases G-Dragon‘s distinctive daisy flower and the phrase ‘YOUTH IS FLOWER’ in a highly stylized manner.

Using markers and spray paint on a metal panel, G-Dragon‘s signature graces the bottom-right corner. This marks the debut of one of G-Dragon‘s personally crafted fine art pieces at auction.

The starting bid for ‘Youth is Flower’ is set at 30 million won (approximately $25,000). Seoul Auction justified the pricing by citing the global recognition of artist Kwon Ji Yong (G-Dragon), the fact that his artworks have not been traded previously, and the strategic timing of introducing them to the market.

G-Dragon‘s interest in art has been evident over the years. He drew inspiration from Francis Bacon’s works for composing BIGBANG‘s song “BAE BAE,” and in 2019, he earned recognition as one of the ’50 Notable Collectors’ by the prestigious U.S. art magazine Artnews.
