In a recent rendezvous, actress Park Shin Hye candidly expressed her thoughts on the K-pop industry, admitting that she could never envision herself as a K-pop idol.
On February 2, Park Shin Hye, along with her 'Doctor Slump' co-star Park Hyung Sik from the K-pop boy group ZE:A, made a guest appearance on 'Hyell's Club', a YouTube show hosted by Hyeri from the girl group Girl's Day.
As the trio engaged in a casual chat over drinks, Hyeri brought up an interesting tidbit from Park Shin Hye's past. "You once harbored dreams of becoming a K-pop star, right? You even started preparing for it," Hyeri probed.
With a shy nod, Park Shin Hye confirmed, "Yes, that's true. It was a long time ago when I was quite young."
When quizzed about how her life would have been had she pursued a career in K-pop, Park Shin Hye responded with a hearty laugh and a shake of her head.
"I would have given it my all, but I don't think I could have handled the mental pressure. It would have been a tough journey," she confessed.
She further explained, "Being a K-pop star means you're always under scrutiny. You have to be perfect on stage, handle the constant public exposure, and always look your best. It's a lot of pressure."
She recalled a particular incident when she had to perform on a massive stage. "I remember feeling nauseous. The stage was shaking with everyone moving around. It was during Jang Keun Suk's concert at Tokyo Dome. That experience made me realize how challenging it is. I wonder how K-pop stars manage to do this repeatedly. It's truly commendable," she shared.
Hyeri, however, felt that Park Shin Hye could have been a successful K-pop star. "I believe you would have been the 'center' of your group," she opined.
Park Shin Hye, lacking confidence, responded, "Do you really think I could have been the 'center'? I'm not so sure about that…"
Park Hyung Sik chimed in, "One thing's for sure, you have the eyes of a 'center' K-pop star. Your eyes are incredibly big! Every time we share a scene, I can't help but marvel at how large your eyes are!" His comment left Park Shin Hye in fits of laughter.
