On February 8, legal sources reported that two individuals, including a journalist and an online netizen, have been indicted on charges of defamation under the Information and Communication Network Act.
The charges stem from allegations of school bullying against actor Nam Joo Hyuk, which were deemed false by the prosecution.
The legal proceedings have designated both cases as summary offenses, and the prosecution has recommended imposing fines rather than pursuing a trial.
If neither party nor the court expresses the intention to proceed with a trial, the prosecution’s judgment will become final.
