• Joo Hyun Young Bids Farewell to 'SNL Korea' named by fans as “An End of an Era”

Joo Hyun Young has opted not to join the fifth reboot season of Coupang Play's variety show 'SNL Korea'.

Despite being a consistent presence as a fixed crew member up until Season 4, Joo has made the decision to step back from the upcoming season after careful deliberations.

Joo Hyun Young initially joined the 'SNL Korea' crew in September 2021 during its first reboot season and has been an engaged member ever since.

Over the course of four seasons, she captivated viewers with her distinctive characters, contributing to the variety show's diverse segments.

Having studied theater, Joo Hyun Young gained notable attention on 'SNL Korea' through her portrayal of the charming intern reporter 'Joo Reporter' in the flagship segment 'Weekend Update'. Her interviews with prominent political figures in the 'Joo Reporter Goes' segment and her role as a 'young know-it-all' in the 'MZ Office' segment resonated deeply with the audience.

Rising to stardom on 'SNL Korea,' Joo also made a mark as an actress. She played Donggeurami, a close friend of Woo Young-woo (played by Park Eun-bin), in the popular ENA drama 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' which concluded in August 2022. Joo received acclaim for her role as Park Yeon-woo's maid Sawol in MBC's recently concluded drama 'The Virtuous Queen of Han's Contract Marriage.'

Following her departure from 'SNL Korea,' Joo is set to concentrate on her acting career. While there have been speculations about potential conflicts between the production team and the production company influencing her decision, it's known that Joo had already decided to leave after Season 4. Joo is affiliated with AIMC, a subsidiary of AStory, which was involved in the production of Seasons 1 to 4 of 'SNL Korea.'

However, conflicts have arisen as the production team, including PD Ahn Sang-hwi, moved to Coupang's subsidiary CP Entertainment for the production of Season 5.
