• "I became brighter after meeting him" — Gong Hyo Jin shares heartwarming details about marrying Kevin Oh

In a recent episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' aired on January 3, actress Gong Hyo Jin opened up about her life as a newlywed with singer Kevin Oh, who is 10 years her junior.

Gong Hyo Jin began by saying, "It's been a little over a year since we got married. They say that if you turn the lights out at the same time, you're still newlyweds. I think we are still in that phase. I still want to spend as much time with him as possible."

Before tying the knot, Gong Hyo Jin had expressed her reluctance to get married. So, what changed her mind? She explained, "I thought that even if I chose to stay single, I wouldn't necessarily be alone since many people these days choose to stay single. I also thought that marriage was not for me after seeing some of my friends who got married and became mothers."

She continued, "It turns out, you can really tell when you meet someone you will marry. For me, I saw that this person was someone who is better than me. Honestly, it's not that easy to be someone who is better than me. But he was that kind of person."

Gong Hyo Jin affectionately mentioned, "I have him saved on my phone as 'My Angel'. I really do think of him as an angel. But his family thinks I'm very cheesy for it (laughter)."

Regarding how they met, Gong Hyo Jin shared, "It was right after 'When The Camellias Bloom,' when I was craving social life. I heard that he was having a concert, and so I went. And then there was a concert by a foreign musician, so we went together with friends. Kevin Oh bought the tickets for all of us, so he actually sent me his bank account number before I learned his phone number. Some time later, we went on a vacation to the United States, and it turned out he was also there at the same time. He asked me if I wanted to grab a cup of tea. When I came back to Korea, I told my friends it was nothing, but I made up an excuse to text him."

Despite their relatively short time as a married couple, Gong Hyo Jin and Kevin Oh will have to spend some time apart due to Kevin Oh's mandatory military service.

Gong Hyo Jin expressed her sadness, stating, "He went the day before yesterday. I went with him to the training center. I've spent two nights without him now. I cried both nights. My heart is feeling conflicted. He made an email account so we could keep in touch though. I get an email every morning at 10 AM, like we're in some sort of a movie."

In conclusion, Gong Hyo Jin shared, "I used to be dark and cynical. I became brighter after meeting Kevin. All of my friends told me that I changed after meeting him. I also wondered what would change once we got married, and now it's clear to me that marriage changes people's relationships. Once we're bonded by marriage, it's as if we've become tied by blood."

    Netizens' comments included:

    "So cute. Happy for her!!"

"She is one of my favorite actresses! I was smiling reading this whole thing. So cute~ wish them a fun and happy marriage~"

    "Aww, that is so sweet."

"I'm just so happy she found someone who loves her and made her a way better person (she's already one tho)."

"Very happy for her. She looks happy."

"Reminds me of when I met my first husband. When you know, you know. And before anyone comments, he passed away 5 years ago."

"It was a realistic and natural encounter, nothing too dreamy, something we normal people can relate to."
